[Top Secret] Black Box

[Top Secret] Black Box is one of the information archives in Nier: Automata.

The following document details the final stages of Project YoRHa.

(Note that this document has been marked with Level-SS confidentiality, and should not be disclosed to any YoRHa personnel, including the Bunker commander.)

[Project 03-01: Regarding the Disposal of the YoRHa squadron]

The back door of the Bunker is designed to open when the time comes to transfer all accumulated combat data to the next generation of models. By intentionally allowing machine lifeforms to assault it, the Bunker will be abandoned. At this time, all information related to Project YoRHa-including this document-will be lost, finalizing the deception that humanity is alive and well on the surface of moon.

[Additional Information]

Each YoRHa unit is equipped with a "black box", and item created by reusing the core of a machine lifeform. As such it could be said that the consciousnesses of YoRHa units and machine liferoms share the same structure. Said black boxes were installed after determining that it would be inhumane to install standard AI in androids that are ultimately destined for disposal.

(For the record, malfunctioning black boxes have caused some YoRHa units to turn hostile.)

Where to find/Location

  • Flooded City - Locked Chest: Located before the fourth lift inside the Soul Box recovery unit during the quest Obtain Keys (third playthrough)

Top secret black box archive won't show up in my archive after I've obtained it. So far i have tried to restart the game and I tried to fix i by going to Ch. 15-02, however it didn't work. Any idea how to fix it?(i play on the ps4 if that helps).

They've fixed this document in-game since I've first played.

Now it only mentions the information regarding the Black Box, not the reveal regarding the disposal of Project YoRHA.

Seems like something about this note and the YoRHa Disposal note is wrong. When acquiring this note 9S just mentions the Machine Core part but not the rest, yet when getting the Disposal note in the Tower he acts like it's a big reveal even though he already has that information.

how it works? Why "would be inhumane to install standard AI in androids that are ultimately destined for disposal" , seem like the backwards to me....
