Goliath Flyer is a Boss in NieR: Automata. Goliath Flyer is an airborneSpecial Unit Machine usually accompanied by a number of Small Flyers when engaged in combat. Bosses are special larger Enemies that can be encountered throughout the game in different Locations. A Boss encounter will usually signify game progress or a chapter ending when following the main storyline. Some of these bosses may first be encountered As NPCs to introduce some Lore and backstory before they are inevitably faced in a Combat encounter as a Boss. Boss encountered are identified by their introductory title that will be displayed just before combat begins. A flying, Goliath-class machine lifeform with a tank-like machine attached to its bottom section. During combat, the center portion functions as a hanger that can release numerous small flying machines, while the main body is capable of firing large quantities of energy rounds.

Goliath Flyer Strategy (Melee) NieR Automata

The Golitath Flyer appears after a series of aerial encounters with other airborne machines. At the start of the encounter, you can begin to fight the unit head on as it begins by releasing an array or orbs from both sides of the unit. Approach it head on and as soon as it begins to shift, back away to give yourself space to react to its next attack.

While in the center watch out for its laser. This move can be easily anticipated from the way the unit tilts its center section down in preparation for the laser. The laser beam then shoots down, slowly moving its way up the center. Watch where the unit is facing and adjust your position accordingly to avoid damage. The same goes for when the unit extends its form in order to release two missiles. Position yourself accordingly. Since you are in the air, there is plenty of room to dodge out of the way of any incoming attacks.

Continue to reposition around, while focusing your attacks on the center area of the unit. Use a combination of backing up and closing in between the unit attacks to eventually destroy it.

Orb release	Orbs are sporadically released from the unit in all directions. They are slow moving and can be dodged.
Missiles	Two missiles are released. When parts of the unit begin to shift or unlatch, back away to allow for position adjustments
Laser Beam	A dense laser starts a vertical sweep from down going up. This action begins slowly, so when you see it, move away from the center area.
