Immanuel is an Special Unit Machine enemy in NieR: Automata.
Immanuel Information
256 years before the start of Nier: Automata, the Forest King founded the prosperous Forest Kingdom. 128 years later, the king died, and his subjects decided to place his memories into a baby machine, hoping it would grow into a new king. For the next century, the machines would guard the child with their lives, attacking anyone who entered the Forest Kingdom.
Obviously, the baby machine could not grow, but its guardians were, in their own words, "too dumb to figure out what to do". Hours after 2B and 9S attacked the Forest Castle, A2 assassinated Immanuel for unknown reasons, though she seemed to show regret for her actions.
Without the guidance of the Forest King, the former subjects went berserk, attacking any intruders with even more ferocity than before.
