Protect the Children is a Main Story Quest in NieR: Automata. 

"Pascal's location at the factory is not secure, and machines are on their way to attack the children."

1. Destroy the infiltrating machine lifeforms
2. Defeat the enemy backup
3. Defeat the Goliath Tank
4. Control Pascal to defeat Engels
5. Return to the children

Protect the Children Walkthrough

• This quest follows completing of Village Turmoil. Machines have gone crazy and are eating each other, and they now target the remaining children of Pascal's village.
• Go outside the factory with Pacal and face the machine horde, including a Goliath Tank
• Pascal will jump into a goliath machine to take on Engels. use R1 to destroy the smaller machines and square for the Engels unit
• Return to the children to watch a rather sad cutscene
• Talk to Pascal to trigger the next quest: Pascal's Despair.
