Fishing in Nier: Automata is a way for the player to make more gold, as well as find items. Fish and Fishing Locations will be covered on this page.
To fish, when you're near a body of water, your POD will prompt you to fish. Hold down the action button and you'll be on your way. Use the reticle to send your POD to where it should be fishing and wait. Keep the POD in your view. Once the POD dips underwater or travels in the opposite direction to the current, tap the action button to reel it in. It will return with a fish or whatever else it found.
Two special items can only be acquired by fishing: the Iron Pipe weapon in the sewers leading to the Amusement Park, and Pod B in the Flooded City near the Lunar Tear.
Fish in Nier: Automata are located on this page. You can find Fish at Fishing Locations throughout the game. They can be used to sell for gold.

I caught a machine lifeform head in the sewers leading to the amusement park

What does it mean where it says flooded city/missile (X%)
What is the percentage?
- Anonymous
This may be just coincidence, or just my luck, but I caught fish about 35-40 percent faster every cast if I turned my pods light on and off in sync with the waves coming from the pod. As soon as I stopped that, my times went back up. Not an exact science but meh

This might seem a little crazy and I haven't had enough time to fully test the theory, but I believe turning the Pod light on and off over and over again works to catch fish better.

I'm having no luck finding Arowana Machines in the ravine... I've found Arapalma Maachines and even just live Arowanas but no machine versions and it's been damn near a couple hours at that spot anyone know of other places?

You can get the machine life form head from the flooded city

I've found the Machine Lifeform Head in the Forest Zone: River/Waterfall areas as well.

I caught Machine Lifeform Head in Flooded City near Missile after 3 hours of fishing

It seems that fish bite faster when you stand on the shore versus in the water. Could just be a coincidence, but it was taking 1-2 minutes to catch something standing in the water where standing on the shore they would almost always bite within 10 seconds.

I caught Arapaima Machine in City Ruins -- Ravine, in the front of a waterfall.

Why am I not getting fish as much any more now when I fish it'll bob under the water once come back up and stay perfectly still for ages sometimes when I pull it up it'll start moving like it caught a fish and it will catch one by why won't it show me it caught it till I press something

I caught a Basking Shark Machine on the Coast of the Flooded City.

I caught a second pod in the flooded city:coast. It came equipped with a laser. I also used that pod to fish and seemed to get much better results, though that might be subjective.

Where to find arowana machine? In the fishes list it says desert Oasis, its page says city ruins/forest and in the fishing location it isn't even inserted.

Page is wrong, it says you can sell fish for gold when you can only sell them for G. If you talk to the NPC wearing the machine head in the resistance camp he explains that G is really just scrap given bartering value. So it's not gold.

You can fish in river in the forest area. It's really hard cause you can barely see your pod but it's possible.
arowana is also in the ravine
