Cruel Oath is a Small Sword in NieR: Automata. This weapon is 9S' signature blade, it is also a part of a set along with the Cruel Blood Oath, Cruel Arrogance, and Cruel Lament. Small Swords are fast-swinging and one of the easiest Weapons to use among the different classes of weapons. It has decent attack speed perfect for chaining combos and used to deal with multiple enemies at once.

AnonymousJudging by official timeline, weapon story of this weapon is most likely connected to male-only YoRHa unit M002 coup that happened a few month after 9S was created. It's possible that he was at the very centre of it, and that's what caused E model to be assigned to him in first place.

There was a novella where 9S actually picked up this weapon I think, so he didn't originally have a melee weapon at all (since he is not a combat android). Makes sense since these entries don't look like they are referring to him...
Three years later. I want to say, that by counting the number of boys and being deeply aware that No.6 is the one that used this sword, I want to make it known that yes this has to be related to the coup in Shonen YoRHa. No.6 liked killing his teammates for sport in spite of not being the E type (He was an A type). He shanked No.3 for no particular reason and was really eager to kill No.9 during the coup even though it served him no purpose. Congrats boo you got your own weapon story.
