The Recluse Stays Home is a Side Quest in NieR: Automata

 

"The son who locked himself inside the house is at it again, this time with even stronger defenses. 9S must put his hacking skills to work getting the door open once more."

"With the door opened, the son emerged once more and explained that on his last visit outside, he'd met another machine that he fanceied. These thoughts both exhilarated and terrified him - though mostly terrified. Thanks to your help and additional persuasion from his mother, he decided to try living in the outside world once more."

The Recluse Stays Home Walkthrough

  • This quest becomes available in your second playthrough, when you are using 9S and have hacking capabilities
  • The quest opens up after the Assault event in City Ruins. Travel to Machine Village and go up the ladder to your right to find the "Normal Machine" with the problem. You must have completed The Recluse to unlock this follow-up quest.
  • Try talking to the son, and when it fails hack. This is a hacking attempt of destroying black blocks to progress quickly.
  • After the hack, talk to the Son Machine once more.

      On pc, lower your resolution so you can shoot 4x faster. Try not to go too low or you won't be able to read your way back to a higher resolution, but in case you need to go low and can't read your way back: go to the menu, go to the right most tab, press down button twice, then 3 times, then 1 time and you'll be on the resolution button.
